หลักการและเหตุผล
การประชุมวิชาการ “การบริหารจัดการความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพแห่งชาติ” เป็นภารกิจหนึ่งของ
คลัสเตอร์ทรัพยากรชีวภาพ ถูกจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปี โดยเจ้าภาพหลักคือ สำนักงานพัฒนาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีแห่งชาติ ร่วมกับกลุ่มพันธมิตรทั้งภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน เพื่อเป็นเวทีให้นักวิจัย นักวิชาการ และนักศึกษาด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ ได้มีโอกาสพบปะ แลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ อันจะนำไปสู่ความร่วมมือในการวิจัยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ เพื่อการอนุรักษ์และใช้ประโยชน์อย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป การประชุมวิชาการ “การบริหารจัดการความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพแห่งชาติ” ครั้งที่ 5 ถูกกำหนดให้จัดขึ้นภายใต้หัวข้อ “BioD5 plus : “People + Utilization + Sustainability” ในระหว่างวันที่ 11-13 กรกฎาคม 2561 ณ จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี

- การแสดงนิทรรศการ และตลาดนัดเทคโนโลยีด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ
- การประกวดผลงานทางวิชาการดีเด่น รางวัล Young BioD Award มูลค่า 10,000 บาท
- การประกวดผลงานภาคบรรยายของนักศึกษา การประกวดโปสเตอร์ดีเด่น
- การออกร้านแสดงผลิตภัณฑ์จากชุมชน และทัศนศึกษาศิลปวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น แหล่งความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี

วัตถุประสงค์
- เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพระหว่างนักวิจัย คณาจารย์ นักศึกษา ชุมชนและ
ผู้ใช้ประโยชน์ - เพื่อเผยแพร่ความรู้ด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและสร้างความตื่นตัวในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรชีวภาพอย่างยั่งยืน

ผลที่คาดว่าจะได้รับ
- มีผู้เข้าร่วมสนใจการประชุมประมาณ 300 คน การนำเสนอผลงานทางวิชาการแบบบรรยาย 50 เรื่อง และแบบโปสเตอร์ 50 เรื่อง
- นักวิจัย นักวิชาการ และนักศึกษาด้านความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ ได้มีโอกาสพบปะ แลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ อันจะนำไปสู่ความร่วมมือในการวิจัยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ เพื่อการอนุรักษ์และใช้ประโยชน์อย่างยั่งยืน
- ผลงานวิจัยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพได้รับการเผยแพร่ในวงกว้าง เกิดการต่อยอดงานวิจัยระหว่างหน่วยงานต่างๆ ก่อให้เกิดแนวคิดใหม่ๆ ในการทำงานวิจัย การทำงานวิจัยแบบมีส่วนร่วมระหว่างนักวิจัยจากสถาบันต่างๆ
- ข้อเสนอแนะงานวิจัยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ ที่ก่อให้เกิดผลกระทบด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และสิ่งแวดล้อมของประเทศ
